Allan Woodson attended school in Springfield, IL where he graduated from Feitshans High School.  He earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Ilinois State University, a Master of Education from the University of Illinois and a Doctor of Education from the University of Illinois. Within School District #186, he has worked as a Teacher, Head Teacher, Assistant Principal, School Principal, Assistant to the Superintendent, and Director of the Department of Human Services.  He has worked in various professional capacities for Sangamon State University, the University of Illinois, the Illinois Secretary of State and the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce.  He is actively involved in our community and in his church.

 

 

Mr. Jamar Scott is the Chief Equity and School Improvement Officer for Springfield Public Schools, which includes recruitment of certified personnel for District 186.  Prior to his current role, Mr. Scott was the principal at Hazel Dell Elementary School, an assistant principal at Springfield Southeast High School, a guidance dean at Lanphier High School, a high school math teacher in Jennings, MO & St. Louis, MO, and a university lecturer for the University of Missouri – St. Louis, and Fontbonne University.

He is the recipient of the 2019 Horace Mann Administrator of the Year Award and is completing his Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Saint Louis University. He holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Saint Louis University and a Bachelor’s in Secondary Mathematics Education from Harris – Stowe State College (now Harris – Stowe State University) He is a first-generation college graduate and is passionate about the power of education to transform the lives of individuals and families.
Mr. Scott is the devoted husband of Josephine Scott and the proud father of their sons, Julian and Jordon. Faith, family, and education are the pillars of Mr. Scott’s life.

 

Elbert Betts graduated from Shivers High School in Aberdeen, MS, and then from Rust College in 1965 where he obtained his B.A. in Education. He received his post graduate education from Tennessee State University, Memphis State University, (now University of Memphis), and Sangamon State University, (now University of Illinois at Springfield), where he obtained his M.A. in Education Administration.

Betts has spent most of his professional career in Springfield as a teacher at Jefferson Middle School, Head Teacher at Lawrence School, an Assistant Principal at Grant Middle School, Assistant Principal, then Principal at Washington Middle School, Assistant Principal at Lanphier High School, and Principal at Springfield’s Southeast High School until his retirement in 1999. After retirement, Mr. Betts began working a Coordinator for the NAACP “Back-to-School/Stay-In-School” Alternative Program from 2010 to present.
