On October 7, 1965, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., visited Springfield, IL to speak to the AFL-CIO.
On October 7, 2018, please join the Springfield & Central Illinois African American History Museum (AAHM) and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity for the re-enactment of that memorial 1965 event. This is the last commemorative program for the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. King.
The program will be held at the AAHM, 1440 Monument Dr., Springfield, IL at 4:00 p.m. Rev. Jacson L. Moody Jr., Senior Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, will be reciting Dr. King’s speech of October 7, 1965. Pastor Moody is originally from Atlanta, GA. He graduated from Georgia Southern University with a BS in Communication Arts. Rev. Moody graduated from Phillips School of Theology at the Interdenominational Theological Center in 2012 with a Master of Divinity Degree.
Rev. Moody has worked as a Broadcaster, Sportscaster, Meteorologist, Videographer and as an Executive News Director for a news telecast. He comes to us with 22 years of Ministerial experience.
Other presenters will be Frank McNeil, Justin Rose, Hewitt Douglas, Rev. Steve Richie and Gene Mitchell.
