There is more to Black History Month than Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks! Who else had an impact on U.S. History? Join Kathryn Harris, a retired librarian, and historian, as she shares her research and extensive knowledge on influential African Americans in history to discover more figures that shaped Illinois and beyond. Students will engage with Ms. Harris as she talks about Ida B. Wells, Langston Hughes, and others.

This program is for students in 3rd grade through 8th grade. Public, private, and homeschool teachers must register for their class in advance. The program will be 30 minutes, with 15 minutes available for student questions. This program will be recorded for schools unable to attend.
