The Springfield and Central Illinois African American History Museum wil celebrate National Women’s History Month. The museum’s 2017 program will host a dynamic panel discussion with women who have made local and national trailblazing footprints. Our theme is: “Women Who are Making Strides in Our Community, and How They Make it All Work.”

In the United States Women’s History Month traces its beginnings back to 1911. The National Women’s History Month’s theme for 2017 is Working to forma a More Perfect Union: Honoring Women in Public Service and Government. The theme for 2017 honors women who have shaped America’s history and its future throuogh their public service and government leadership.

Women’s History Month is a time to reflect on the difficult journey and the amazing achievements women have made in America and throughout the world. The courageous and talented voices of women leaders are very important in today’s climate. We want the next generation of young women to know that opportunities are limitless for them.
